Congress it not happy with the Central govt decision on appointment of Mr. Bipin Rawat as next army chief as govt has superseded two of the best senior officers. Lt Gen Rawat Belongs to Famous 5th battalion of 11th gorkha rifles, he is the current vice chief of Army staff of Indian Army.
Now congress is demanding an answer from the Govt.on the selection. There is no question on professionalism and patriotism as a excellent soldier and army leader, but in a legitimate question as to why this supersession was necessary.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) sources have stated that Lt. General. Bipin Rawat, who has been appointed as the next Chief of Army Staff, was found the best suited among current batch of candidates of Lt. Generals, to deal with emerging challenges, including a reorganized and restructured military force in the north, continuing terrorism and proxy war from the west, and the situation in the North-East.
