If you have old notes worth over Rs 5,000 and are
planning to deposit it, you need to hurry up. The RBI on Monday issued fresh
guidelines.
More the 5000 rupee old currency can be deposited once per account until
December 30, 2016
Here's the RBI notification:

2) Bank officer will ask question if depositing
more than Rs 5,000 . If officer are satisfied with the evidence and
answer only than money can be deposit.
3) Even when notes smaller than Rs 5000 are made in
an account and such notes taken together on cumulative basis exceed Rs 5,000
they may be subject to scrutiny.
4) No more notes can be deposited after December
30.
